APPLIQUE NUMBERS

Applique is a very useful method to achieve large embroidery coverage without having to many stitches, as you can see from the images below. These 3 meter long changing room curtains, the numbers are 475mm high making them visable from distance as well as looking beautiful. Applique can also be used in smaller areas if you require  this is used a lot in fashion for in two piece suits when can take the fabric print of the skirt and applique on the jacket.

THE APPLIQUE TECHNIQUE

 

  • THE BASE FABRIC IS SECURED IN THE MACHINE.
  • THE OUTLINE OF THE SHAPE IS MACHINED.
  • THE FABRIC IS STITCHED WITH A RUN STITCH.
  • THE FABRIC IS THEN CUT TO SHAPE BY HAND
  • THE MACHINE THEN STITCHES ZIGZAG STITCH TO TACK THE FABRIC.
  • THE SHAPE IS THEN FINISHED WITH A SATIN STITCH
